Quick checklist for your adhesive tape

Find out how we can help you

✅ Does your adhesive tape comply with industry standards?

In regulated sectors such as food, healthcare, automotive or electronics, using a suitable adhesive tape is not just a technical decision: it is a legal and quality obligation.

Failure to comply with industry standards can result in product rejection, fines or even safety issues. At ATyT, we know that many customers need clear, straightforward answers. That's why we've put together this quick checklist to help you validate whether your adhesive tapes are compliant with your industry.

🧾 Quick checklist to verify compliance with regulations

✅ Does your tape complies with the specific regulations of your industry?

  • Food sector :

Is it FDA or Regulation (EU) 10/2011 certified for food contact?

  • Sanitary Sector :

Sanitary: Does it have biocompatibility testing or ISO 10993 certification for indirect skin contact?

  • Automotive sector:

Automotive: Does it comply with LV312 or OEM specifications such as VW, Renault, PSA or Mercedes?

  • Electronics Sector:

Electronics: Is it UL 510 certified or does it meet thermal or electrical insulation standards?

  • Construction Sector:

Construction: Does it comply with standards such as EN 13967 (vapour barriers), reaction to fire classification (EN 13501-1) or ageing and adhesion tests on different substrates?

  • Electricity Sector:

Electricity: Is it approved according to IEC 60454, RoHS or compliant with dielectric insulation requirements for installation safety?

  • Nautical sector:

Marine: Can it withstand saline environments, extreme humidity and comply with standards such as ISO 12216 or salt spray resistance certifications?

  • Railway sector:

Railway: Does it comply with EN 45545-2 on fire performance of railway materials or with low smoke emission and toxicity requirements?

🧪 At ATyT we can certify the tapes you need, both from our in-house laboratory and in collaboration with external accredited laboratories.

✅ Does it withstand the actual conditions of use?

Each sector has different environmental characteristics, as do the tapes, so standards have been created so that they are designed with official characteristics for the different climates in which they can be used.

  • Temperature, humidity, chemical or UV exposure - is your tape tested according to standards such as ASTM D3654, DIN EN 1939 or similar?
  • Has it been tested under conditions similar to those of your production or assembly process?
  • Minimum values for adhesion or behaviour on a concrete surface

✅ 3. ¿Dispone de trazabilidad y documentación técnica?

To ensure customers' peace of mind, various documents are provided to guarantee that they have been examined prior to delivery.

  • Does each coil or batch have its serial number, technical data sheet (TDS) and material safety data sheet (MSDS)?
  • Can you obtain the manufacturing and testing history if requested by an auditor?

✅ Is the manufacturer or supplier certified?

A certified supplier (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, IATF 16949) and documented technical support ensures regulatory compliance and audit support.

  • Are you working with a supplier certified to ISO 9001 (quality), ISO 14001 (environment) or IATF 16949 (automotive) standards?
  • Do you provide documented technical support or audit assistance?

✅ 5. Do you have access to technical assistance for validation?

Our partners help us to guarantee the quality of our products with their checks and recommendations.

  • Does your supplier help you to tailor the tapes to your specifications and regulatory requirements?
  • Does the supplier offer tailor-made solutions (specific presentation or transformation formats or document kits)?

🛠 Case study: a customer in the construction industry

A construction company used a double-sided tape to fix insulating panels indoors. During a technical site audit, it was unable to demonstrate that the tape complied with European building materials regulations (such as EN 13967 or reaction to fire classification). This led to the rejection of part of the project and significant delays.

After contacting ATyT, they were recommended a tape with appropriate certification (including strength, adhesion and fire performance tests), with full traceability. This allowed them to resume the work in compliance with the regulations, avoid penalties and reinforce the confidence of the end client.

🎯 Conclusion: not everything works in regulated sectors

In critical sectors, adhesive tape cannot be a mere accessory. It must be a validated, documented and traceable component. Using the right tape, with regulatory backing, is a guarantee of safety, operational continuity and legal compliance.
