Aluminum butyl tape
ATyT's aluminum butyl tape is designed for technical applications where watertight sealing, high adhesion and resistance against moisture, leaks and external agents are required. Manufactured with a butyl adhesive mass and reinforced with an aluminum foil laminated onto a polyester film, this aluminum butyl tape provides a reliable and durable solution for technical sealing and waterproofing applications.
The reinforced structure of the waterproof aluminum butyl tape incorporates a polyester film that helps prevent tearing and improves the product's mechanical stability during installation and service life. Thanks to this combination of materials, the butyl tape offers excellent conformability and adaptation to irregular surfaces, curves, metal joints and construction finishing details.
The butyl sealing tape is commonly used in waterproof sealing applications where it is necessary to prevent water infiltration, air penetration or moisture ingress. Its high adhesion capability makes aluminum butyl a widely used solution for roofs, skylights, sandwich panels, chimneys, ducts and metal enclosures.

ATyT offers aluminum butyl tape in 0.6 mm and 0.8 mm thicknesses, allowing the solution to be adapted depending on the application requirements. The 0.6 mm thickness (available in aluminum, white, bright, lead and terracotta colors) offers greater flexibility for corners, finishing details and adaptable applications, while the 0.8 mm version (available in aluminum color) provides a higher butyl mass and superior performance for outdoor applications and areas exposed to high humidity or structural movement.
Thanks to its high conformability and its characteristics as a high adhesion tape, this product allows fast, clean and secure applications in both construction and technical industrial installations.
The adhesive solutions developed by ATyT are designed to provide durability, watertight performance and industrial reliability in professional sealing applications.

Application conditions for butyl aluminium tape
To ensure optimal performance of the aluminum butyl tape:
- The surface must be clean, dry and free from grease or oil
- Uniform pressure must be applied during bonding
- Insufficient pressure may affect adhesive properties and final appearance
Aluminum Butyl Tape Use Case
José contacted the ATYT team after several months trying to resolve water leaks on one of his client's roof. After trying different alternatives without success, he needed a reliable solution that was quick to apply and durable against weather conditions.
After analyzing the application and roof conditions, our technical department recommended the ATYT aluminum butyl tape, specifically designed for sealing, weatherproofing and waterproofing work. We sent him a sample to conduct the necessary tests.
The results were immediate. Thanks to its excellent adhesion and ability to adapt to surface irregularities, the tape completely eliminated the leaks. He now regularly uses it in roof repair and protection work, offering his clients an effective and durable solution.

This ATYT aluminum butyl tape is designed to adhere to a wide variety of surfaces, including: clay and concrete tiles, galvanized zinc, steel, aluminum, fiber cement, PVC and thermoformed plastics. Its excellent adhesion capacity allows secure bonding even on irregular, porous surfaces or those with slight oxidation.
Aluminum butyl tape is a waterproof sealing solution designed for applications exposed to weather, moisture and thermal demands. It is especially valued in work where sealing must last and cannot fail.
On roofs and coverings, it is used to waterproof trims, sandwich panels and metal connections. It is the standard option when working in areas continuously exposed to rain and moisture.
In exterior construction, it allows sealing joints, skylights, chimneys and any critical area of the enclosure where long-term weatherproofing is essential. Its exterior resistance makes it reliable even in adverse weather conditions.
In technical and industrial installations, it protects against leaks in ducts, metal enclosures and systems subjected to temperature changes and vibrations. In these environments, butyl's ability to remain flexible without losing adhesion makes the difference.
If your project involves sealing against water, weather or thermal movements, aluminum butyl tape is one of the most reliable solutions on the market. Do you have doubts about whether it's right for your project or installation? Tell us and we'll guide you
It is not recommended. For butyl to correctly activate its adhesion, the surface must be dry and clean. Applying it to damp surfaces compromises the seal from the start and can cause premature peeling, especially in areas where weatherproofing is most needed.
The recommended application temperature is between +5 °C and +35 °C. Its service range once installed is -20 °C to +80 °C.
The polyester reinforcement prevents tearing during installation and improves mechanical stability in service, especially at corners and trims where aluminum alone could crack.
- 0.6 mm: greater flexibility, ideal for trims, corners and finishes. Available in various colors (aluminum, white, bright, lead, tile).
- 0.8 mm: greater mass of butyl, superior performance outdoors with high moisture or structural movement. Available in aluminum color.
Clean and dry the affected area. Apply the tape by exerting uniform pressure with a roller or spatula from the center toward the edges. Insufficient pressure compromises adhesion and final weatherproofing.
Yes. It is one of its most common applications: sealing longitudinal and transverse joints in sandwich panels, securing trims and protecting connections in metal enclosures.
The key is to make small "V" cuts in the tape edge before folding, especially at 90° corners. This allows the material to adapt without accumulating tension or forming wrinkles that could create channels for water to seep through. After each cut, press firmly with a roller or spatula from the center toward the edges to ensure full contact of the butyl with the surface.
