PVC profiling tape
ATyT's PVC profiling tape is specially designed for painting work requiring precise lines and the ability to follow complex contours. Made with a plasticised PVC backing and a rubber-based adhesive, it provides high conformability and good adhesion on different surfaces. Its flexibility allows it to be adapted to difficult layouts while remaining properly adhered during the painting process.
This profiling tape is especially suitable when curves, changes of direction or designs need to be created that would be difficult to achieve with a conventional masking tape. Thanks to its elongation and conformability, it can be used as a paint curve tape and masking tape for curves, following the contours of the surface without causing wrinkles or tears.
In work where visual finish is especially important, it functions as a paint line tape, helping achieve well-defined edges and preventing paint build-up at the edges of the masked area. Because of these characteristics, it is an airbrushing tape especially suited for professional work requiring precise designs, profiles and colour separations.
Its use as a masking tape stands out particularly within the automotive sector. It can be used as automotive profiling tape on irregular surfaces, rivets, welds and various bodywork elements, as well as to cover certain rubber areas. It is therefore also a suitable solution as a car painting tape when the process requires defined lines, curves or contours.
In addition, it is a high-temperature-resistant tape, capable of withstanding one-hour cycles at 150 °C without losing its adhesive properties. Once the process is complete, it can be removed quickly and cleanly without leaving adhesive residue on the application surface.

Advantages that make the difference for PVC profiling tape
- High conformability: follows complex curves and contours while maintaining proper adhesion.
- Well-defined lines: achieves precise paint edges without build-up at the edges.
- Thermal resistance: withstands cycles of up to 150 °C for one hour.
- Clean removal: Comes off quickly without leaving adhesive residue.
- Good adhesion: Offers a high level of adhesion on a wide variety of surfaces.
Application conditions for PVC profiling tape
To ensure optimal tape performance:
- Apply to clean, dry surfaces.
- Remove any grease, oil, dust or other non-stick substances beforehand.
- Apply sufficient pressure to the tape to achieve proper adhesion.
- Check the product's suitability for the specific application beforehand.
- In thermal processes, respect the maximum stated conditions of 150 °C for one-hour cycles.
Success story of PVC profiling tape
Sergio, manager of a workshop specialising in vehicle painting and customisation, contacted ATyT because he needed to improve line definition in two-tone painting work and curved designs. The conventional masking tapes they used were difficult to adapt to certain bodywork contours and could generate wrinkles when creating more complex layouts.
After analysing the application, our team recommended ATyT's PVC profiling tape. Thanks to its plasticised PVC backing and rubber-based adhesive, this profiling tape offers high conformability, allowing it to follow contours and remain properly adhered during the process. In addition, its 180% elongation at break makes it easier to adapt to complex layouts.
During testing, the workshop used the paint curve tape in different areas of the bodywork to delimit colour changes. Its behaviour as a paint line tape achieved well-defined edges, while its conformability made it easier to work on irregular surfaces, rivets and welds. Once the process was finished, the tape could be removed cleanly without leaving adhesive residue.
Frequently asked questions
PVC profiling tape is designed to delimit lines, curves and contours during painting work. Its high conformability allows it to follow complex layouts and achieve well-defined paint lines.
Yes. Profiling tape is specially designed to adapt to difficult contours without causing wrinkles or tears. This makes it especially suitable as a paint curve tape and masking tape for curves.
Yes. One of the main advantages of this paint line tape is that it achieves well-defined lines without paint build-up at the edges.
Yes. The technical data sheet specifically states its use in airbrushing work, where it helps create designs and lines requiring precision.
Yes. It is an automotive profiling tape suitable for bodywork painting jobs. It can adapt to irregular surfaces and be used on areas with rivets and welds, as well as covering certain rubber surfaces.
Yes. This high-temperature-resistant tape can withstand one-hour cycles at 150 °C without losing its adhesive properties, making it suitable for certain professional high-temperature painting processes.
The masking tape is designed to be removed quickly and cleanly without leaving adhesive residue on the application surface.
The standard presentation includes widths of 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15 mm, with 55-metre rolls. These narrow widths make it especially easy to create curves and layouts of varying complexity.
